Paw Prints

I know the weather is officially getting warmer.

I’m not talking about the fact of finally being able to walk outside and feel the warmer temperature.

I’m not talking about the fact that you can see the results of the warmth of the sun on the snow making puddles all over.

I’m not talking about the fact that it seems like I need to wash my truck daily because it gets so dirty.

I’m not talking about the fact I feel like it’s about to become a daily battle to get my kids to wear pants (not shorts) and a jacket.

I’m talking about when I let my dogs out the back door. They run up and down the fence with the neighbor’s dog. It’s like the starter’s gun went off, and they are off to the races. When they finally get winded (which doesn’t take a whole lot for a fat pug 🙂 ), they come inside leaving behind their dirty, muddy paw prints all over my kitchen floor!

Great format! I knew where you were going with this yet I enjoyed every “I’m
not talking about…” until I reached the inevitable paw prints. It was fun to read, especially because I can relate to each and every line! I always try to keep the reader in suspense, but this was great…I kept wanting to read even though I knew up front what you would end with. It made it even better for me. Thanks for the great slice!

  2. I love the good mixed in with the “I’ll take the muddy floor” voice. The good and bad of spring! Wonderful!

Great slice! Makes me jealous since I’m not getting that springtime feeling it. Keep up the writing!

Love the repetition in each scene. I am thankful for the warmer weather. I could visualize your dogs running, running. Muddy paws? No fun, but definitely worth it.

  5. Our spring is going hit 90 this weekend but I can relate to the dogs having two myself. Loved this!

I love the repetition of “I’m not talking about…” I also hope you didn’t just clean your kitchen floors!!! At least the dogs got outside to run. I love watching dogs run up and down the fence – it is so funny!!!

I know the feeling, and I say thats the one thing that annoys me about spring! My dog does the same thing, and tries to run right past me and up the stairs without getting his paws wiped off!
